Terms of service
Last updated: 2026-06-11
These terms govern your use of NMFC Freight Class Calculator (https://nmfc.shipcostlab.com), a free informational tool operated by José Manuel Volante González (see the legal notice for full provider identification).
1. The service
The site provides a free, browser-based density-to-freight-class estimator aligned with the NMFC restructuring effective July 19, 2025. There are no user accounts, no subscriptions, and no fees. All calculations run locally in your browser; we do not receive or store the values you enter.
2. Informational use only — no professional advice
Results are directional estimates, not binding carrier quotes, tariff classifications, tax advice, or legal advice. Final freight class, NMFC item code, and rates are determined by the carrier's tariff, any bilateral/FAK agreements, and NMFTA's authoritative classification (ClassIT+). Always confirm classification with your carrier or a licensed NMFC source before tendering freight.
3. Intellectual property
The site's code, copy, and visual design are owned by the operator. The NMFC and its item-code descriptions are the copyrighted property of the National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA); this tool deliberately does not republish NMFC item codes or their descriptions.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the site — including attempting to disrupt its availability, scrape it at abusive rates, or use it to violate any law or third-party rights.
5. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator shall not be liable for any loss or damage — including misclassified freight, reclassification charges, or carrier penalties — arising from reliance on the estimates this tool produces. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
7. Changes
We may update the tool or these terms at any time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by Spanish law. Disputes are subject to the courts of the operator's domicile in Spain, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection forum that applies to you.
